Nuno Felt Scarf or Warm Woolly Scarf

Felt Scarf Making

Nuno felting is my favourite felting technique which creates such beautiful qualities created by no other form of manipulation.

You have the option to either make a Nuno Felted Scarf  or a Warm Woolly Scarf - and yes you can change your mind on the day if you wish!

The word 'Nuno' is Japanese for cloth. It is a wet felting technique that merges loose woollen fibres with a sheer fabric such as silk gauze or a very fine cloth. When felted the wool shrinks during the felting process it leaves a beautiful subtle texture on the silk unlike any other technique.  This texture and drape lends itself to the beautiful movement required in a scarf.

Nuno scarf making requires a fine silk or polyester base fabric. I have a variety of fine scarves available to purchase on the day for £12 but please feel free to bring your own FINE scarf -silk or a very fine natural fibre scarf will work too.

The warm woolly scarf does not require a base layer.

Felt scarf making courses run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (please arrive by 9:45 a.m. so we can start promptly).

Cost per course is £65 and includes all materials (apart from the silk scarf if you are making a Nuno felted scarf - see below).

A light lunch and other refreshments are provided.
