Theme : Play
Set by: Cannock Chase Forestry Commission.
The commission was to produce a piece or pieces of felt that would hang on the Art Trail on Cannock Chase. The only stipulation was that we had to follow a theme of ‘Play’.
I prompted ideas from the children and they came up with the concept of making hanging birds nest pods. We incorporated this play theme on the individual pods, and if you click on the image you will see designs such as children playing on swings, dice, balls and children playing etc.
It was a fun project and the children picked up quite advance skills of 3 dimensional felting techniques very easily and attended the opening ceremony of the annual opening. Many artist/sculptors participate in the project each year.
The hanging birds nest pods hang on Cannock Chase and look amazing.
